All about SAD (Standard American Diet)
This post is about that. It’s “An Education.” What’s the drift: Low Fat is the way forward.
There are a few ways to add it up.
First: The CONS:
1. Animal habitat (Atkins destroys the nation! Too much meat, too much added fats as well…Keto is equally scary. Here’s a pro tip: when they can market a bag of chips with a popular diet fad, like keto, for instance- you know it’s a gimmick. Not so of “low fat” dieting.)
2. Obesity - eating too much meat and oil is a gluttonous business
3. Cancer, Dementia, ETC. - ensues…
Next: The Pros:
1. Healthy weight - while it may take slightly longer to lose the inches, low fat dieting is more sustainable. You will lose weight and be satisfied. You can eat things like: soda, popcorn (plain), potatoes, bread, juice, PASTA (even!!!) and still lose weight!!! Yes, it takes a little time, but you’ll be happy - in the end. :)
2. Desire to MOVE - one of the immediate and honestly, immense, things that happens when beginning a low fat diet, is the body uses glucose much better. It starts to burn and make you exercise more often. You feel the need to move.
3. Colours and exploration of different cultures and foods - it is much harder to overdo sugars than it is to overdo fats. Fats are a lot more caloric.
Why is it so important to eat low fat (or THINK “low fat,” let us say)? Because of the above.
Low fat is the way forward in terms of - eating meat and dairy products more thoughtfully. Added fats spoil the goodness :)
Lowering our consumption of added fats - like oil, traditional cows milk cheese or pasteurized dairy products, and “extras” (like oily, processed, “add-ons”) is the way to get the mind and the heart back into harmony.
Whether you call it a plant-based diet, or not, the low fat diet is the way to go.
Can you still eat meat? YES!
Meat and Whole Foods fats are part of a healthy diet.
Cheers!
In SUM: Low fat is the answer. Sugar is not a foe. Sugar gets the body (and mind) moving! IMHO: You actually CAN drink soda. You can enjoy a sugary candy. You can enjoy a large cup, even..! Go ahead, eat your fruits. It’s the gluttony of added fats that’s creating a problem. Once you trim down your pantries and refrigerators of added fats you’ll really notice how obvious it is. Not so with added sugars. It’s really not as vast of a problem. Corruption :( in our thinking. So… IN SUM: Think “Low Fat.”
What kind’s of things will you start limiting (or ignoring all together)? Here’s a few ideas to trim down the waist-band, and to limit in the kitchen at home:
Chips, ice cream, chocolate bars, pastries/baked goods, jarred products in oil (sauces included), salad dressings (a hard one!), tv dinners, boxes of Mac n Cheese, etc…!
You’d be amazed at how often those extras all add up in the chronic illness problem in this country. It’s not a small thing.
Learning to cook with little to no oil is the answer to all your health prayers. Same with dairy products. Most of the population has (IMHO) a lack of enzyme for dairy in the gut. This is something few people discuss, as it has to do with your heritage… Many cultures do not digest dairy very well. It’s not a part of their adaptation yet…
We want to be using plant-based thinking when cooking gourmet foods. That means non-dairy. Sometimes, these are called Parve products. For instance, a plant-based dip or sour cream, perhaps, a non-dairy milk product. You can often substitute. That is, if you like to cook.
If you like to eat out and about, plant-based thinking is the way forward…Otherwise, think “low fat” and keep it simple. :)
